I graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1969 (BVSc) and after one year in a rotating clinical internship, worked in a predominantly dairy/beef practice in Alberta, Canada for four and a half years, then completed a residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
After many years on faculty at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine specializing in diseases of the urinary tract, in 1992 I became Head of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences then later an Associate Dean, in the Louisiana State University, School of Veterinary Medicine.
I am a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Companion Animals) and I have been involved in development and staging of hands-on labs at the NAVC Conference in Orlando, FL and Southern European Veterinary Conference in Barcelona for many years.
